After 70 years in entertainment, 54 of which were spent building a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame-worthy legacy, The Spinners will premiere the first-ever music video in the group’s history for “After Hours,” the second single off their latest album, on Friday, November 8. Full Circle, the group’s 21st studio album — the final album on which Henry Fambrough, the group’s last surviving founding member, appeared — represents Fambrough’s passing of the baton to the four singers he entrusted with the group’s legacy. Directed by acclaimed video director Azzie Scott, the new visual invites viewers to get to know The Spinners — Jessie Peck, Ronnie Moss, Marvin Taylor, and C.J. Jefferson — off-stage, after hours.Scott’s conceptual vision for the clip draws inspiration from the up-tempo, horn-laden stepper’s groove, produced by Bernard Grobman; hence lush, jewel-toned, supper club-like environs that complement the “grown and sexy” mood of the song. In the video, The Spinners deliver the sophistication of their slickly choreographed live shows as they serenade a diverse assemblage of beautiful ladies. “My approach to the After Hours music video was to bring a sexy, upscale vibe and aesthetic to the legendary Spinners’ legacy. After Hours is such a new and fresh-sounding track, I felt we had to equally match it with lux and high-gloss visual suitable for such an iconic group. Being tasked with directing the first music video in the Spinners’ history, the gravity of this wasn’t lost on me. I knew I had to come up correct, and I feel we accomplished our goal.”- Azzie Scott
Peck, Moss, Taylor, and Jefferson consider the “After Hours” video an opportunity to write the next chapter of The Spinners’ ongoing musical saga.
