Gospel vocal quintet The Group Fire passes on hope for their latest track, “I Can Count On You”

In 2012, two sets of brothers (Terelle, Juwan & Justin Cooper and Tajohn & Al Hill) joined in praising and preaching about Jesus, though not always with expected arrangements. Since their debut, It Takes A Village, The Group Fire dropped enchanting five part vocal harmonies bringing contemporary, traditional and quartet sprinkling be-bop, R&B jams, pop, smooth jazz and whatever their vocal arsenal desired. Those special traits would mark a steady ministry that includes earning Stellar Award nominations for the title track of their Heal the Land CD and Billboard Gospel Airplay (“Again” and “More Than Friends”).

The Group Fire now returns with their brand new single, “I Can Count On You” through a total team effort. Written by group member Terelle Cooper, the Cooper brothers (along with longtime producer Steve Cooper) share co-production duties and all take lead vocal turns. While the upbeat soundtrack cleverly shadows an Earth, Wind & Fire funk classic, “September,” the words speak encouragement in the down times: “I can count on You/ You never let me down/ In worst case scenarios/ You’re still around.”
