Trombone Shorty has released “Dirty Water,” a new single from Parking Lot Symphony, the forthcoming Blue Note debut by the beloved bandleader, singer, songwriter and horn-blower born Troy Andrews. “It’s a life record about prevailing no matter what type of roadblock is in front of you,” he says. That message is clearest on “Dirty Water,” where over an easy groove, Andrews adopts a soft falsetto to address just about anyone going through it—personal, political, whatever. “There’s a lot of hope turning to doubt / I’ve got something to say to that / You don’t know what you’re talking about / When you believe in love it all works out.”

Trombone Shorty will be the featured artist on MLB Network from April 3-10 with “Here Come the Boys,” a reinterpretation of his track “Here Come the Girls” from Parking Lot Symphony, which will be heard exclusively on MLB Network throughout its coverage of Opening Week of the 2017 Major League Baseball season.

Parking Lot Symphony, which will be released on April 28, is a funky 12-track tour de force produced by Chris Seefried (Fitz and the Tantrums, Andra Day) featuring 10 new original songs along with covers of Allen Toussaint (“Here Come The Girls”) and The Meters (“It Ain’t No Use”). True to its title, the album contains multitudes of sound—from brass band blare and deep-groove funk to bluesy beauty and hip-hop/pop swagger.

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue have also announced extensive tour dates including a sold-out album release show at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC on April 24, and their annual Treme Threauxdown at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans on April 29 that will feature special guests including Andra Day and Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Trombone Shorty will also perform at the 2017 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, where he has inherited the festival’s prestigious closing set in the legacy of great New Orleans artists like the Neville Brothers and Professor Longhair.
