Carnell Murrell Releases New Single, “Because Of You” on Feb. 8th, 2011

Carnell Murrell first hit the faith-based music scene in Dallas, Texas, as a writer in 1991. Not long after, “The Carnell Murrell Singers” performed for Paramount Pictures in Steve Martin’s Leap of Faith. As
one-third of the Texas triumvirate of great gospel music writers,
Murrell with Kirk Franklin and V. Michael McKay, exploded onto the
gospel music scene. Together, they changed the sound of gospel music
forever. Murrell was rewarded with nominations for both Stellar and Soul Train Music Awards.

With a powerful heart-felt testimony, Carnell Murrell has moved on to
become one of the best song writers of all time in the Christian and
Gospel industry. He has contributed his songwriting skills to Dorinda Clark-Cole, Kirk Franklin, Dallas Fort Worth Mass Choir, Wayman Tisdale, Dave Hollister, Ricky Dillard and so much more. But to start the new year off the right way, Carnell introduces his best single yet: “Because of You“.

This soft, melodic ballad starts by grabbing your attention with the
keys first, then it takes you into a place of remembrance of the glory
of God.  Carnell really knows how to grab you when he performs and he
knows how to take you into that place as his voice hesitates to deliver
the next repetitive phrase ‘its because of you’. Anyone can
relate to this song and if you haven’t thought about why you are still
here, then this song can really refresh your memory. Its peaceful,
comforting and to sum it all up; its worship.

When asked what
brought Carnell to deliver such a song, he replied, “I wrote this song
in a time where I was very ill back in 2009 and I lost about 60 pounds. I
wanted my focus  in my life to be completely on God. He gets all the
glory, you know. We (he pauses) are not supposed to be here so it’s
because of God that we are here. So doing that time I was really
going through the valley and God said if you pass this test, then you
can soar like an eagle. God said that I will enjoy the mountain top of
glory.”

In addition to his new single this year, you can also
hear Carnell’s music on the new album by the Mississippi Mass Choir
titled Then Sings My Soul. The single “Forgive and Forget” is the song that Carnell wrote and is a featured performer as well. The new single “Because of You” releases digitally on I-Tunes, Amazon and more on February 8th this month.
