Friday, May 1, 2026 – Nine-time GRAMMY Award-winning icon Ziggy Marley has released the digital version of his latest record in 8 years, Brightside. Apple Music has released an exclusive Apple Spatial Atmos version as well.
Marley previously released a physical version of the Brightside vinyl exclusively for Record Store Day on April 18th with a livestream performance and signing at famed record store, Licorice Pizza in Los Angeles. A very limited number of exclusive Record Store Day orange vinyl remain and are on sale now via https://www.ziggymarley.com/. Get one while supplies last.
Ziggy also announced that Big Boi of famed hip hop duo Outkast, is featured on the digital version of the standout track, “Racism Is A Killa.”
Ziggy Marley crafted Brightside, his 9th solo studio album, via a creative process entirely different than anything he’s done to date, from both a songwriting and technical standpoint. The album’s eight songs were co-produced by Ziggy and his brother Stephen and recorded at his newly built Rebel Lion Studio in Los Angeles alongside a myriad of longtime collaborators, including vocalist Nikka Costa, Trombone Shorty, Sheila E. and Jake Shimabukuro. Most uniquely, the project was recorded using 432Hz, a soothing sonic frequency regularly employed for meditation and other mindful practices. With songs that delve into wellness and mental health, Marley shares “You see what’s happening in the world, what’s happening to people, and it really brings me down sometimes. I realized the album was going to have an introspective side to it. [The music] became my therapy.” Brightside not only embodies messages of resilience and strength but was also intentionally crafted to include healing elements that drive a therapeutic listening experience.
Ziggy released two singles off Brightside this year including “Many Mourn For Bob” a powerful tribute to the legacy of his father, the legendary Bob Marley and the vinyl version of the timely call to action, “Racism Is A Killa”, which likens the injustice of inequality to a deadly disease in need of eradication.
This week, Ziggy announced the release of his next children’s book, True To Myself, on The Jennifer Hudson Show. The book is inspired by his hit song of the same name and will be out on September 15. True To Myself is a joyful, empowering picture book about self-esteem, kindness, and community. Readers join a diverse group of kids as they make friends, support one another, and brighten their school and neighborhood. From including a new student at lunch to sharing on the playground to giving back locally, each moment celebrates connection—and the power of being true to yourself.
Last month, Ziggy launched a Charity Buzz auction benefiting URGE Foundation, which seeks to make enduring contributions to the lives of children in Jamaica, Africa, and throughout the world. Exclusive and one-of-a-kind auction items include a Ziggy Marley Autographed Custom Fender Guitar, Ziggy Marley Autographed Custom Kick Drums, a Ziggy Marley Autographed Love Is My Religion Album Cover, and a Ziggy Marley Autographed Wild and Free Album Cover. All artwork was specially commissioned by Punk Rock and Paint Brushes. The bidding continues HERE and concludes this week on May 4th.
Ziggy will kick off the Ziggy Marley Brightside Tour of North America on June 19th at Fox Tucson Theatre in Tucson, AZ. The 20-date tour will make stops in major markets all around the country before concluding on July 22nd in Nantucket, MA. J Boog is set to appear as Special Guest on select dates throughout the tour.
The upcoming shows include a night at the iconic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA on June 21st, as well as a performance at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre as part of Stephen Marley’s Kaya Fest. The special festival will include a joint set between the brothers, performing both their own songs and collaborating on selections from their father, Bob Marley’s, discography. Ziggy will make additional festival appearances this year at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in New Orleans, LA, Levitate Music and Arts Festival in Marshfield, MA, and Sea.Hear.Now Festival in Asbury Park, NJ.
