LOS ANGELES, CA — Gospel music icon Donnie McClurkin continues the powerful final chapter of his celebrated recording career with the release of his new single, “Lord, I Thank You,” recently serviced to gospel radio, nationwide. The heartfelt anthem is the second single from McClurkin’s highly anticipated album, FINALLY, set for release in October.
After more than four decades of music and ministry, the multiple GRAMMY® Award winner, pastor and internationally acclaimed vocalist is preparing to deliver what he has announced will be his final recorded album, a project rooted in the sound, message and worship that have defined his extraordinary career.
Penned by McClurkin and produced by longtime collaborator Trent Phillips, “Lord, I Thank You” is an intimate expression of gratitude that reflects on McClurkin’s journey through triumph, adversity, faith and the unwavering faithfulness of God.
“Lord, I Thank You is a song straight from my heart,” says Donnie McClurkin. “After all these years, through all the highs and lows, I still wake up every day grateful for what God has done in my life. This song is my praise report, and I pray it becomes yours too.”
Having worked alongside McClurkin on several projects over the years, Phillips understood that the power of the song was not in overproducing the moment, but in allowing its sincerity and emotion to remain intact.
“There’s a simplicity to ‘Lord, I Thank You’ that makes it immediately connect with you,” says Trent Phillips. “Donnie has always had an incredible ability to communicate a song from a very real place, and with this one, we wanted to protect that. “Lord, I Thank You” follows the success of FINALLY’s lead single, “Better Afterwhile,” which soared to #1 on the Billboard Gospel chart, once again demonstrating McClurkin’s enduring connection with gospel audiences and the music that has made him one of the genre’s most influential voices.
With FINALLY, McClurkin is not simply closing a chapter, he is returning to the foundation that first shaped his ministry and music.
