For over one decade, even through the offstage tribulations, the Chicago-based ensemble influenced the funk scene during the 70’s and 80’s, earning a respectable Billboard chart history scoring in the top 50 for all their 11 albums, while consistently crossing over to the pop charts, sometimes without Chaka.
