Up & coming vocalist Mary Ann Alexander asks the simple question on her latest single, Too Much?
She started recording at age seven, taking full advantage in shaping her voice while in school in her home state of Kerala in southern India. One of singer/songwriter Mary Ann Alexander’s key moments in a persevering journey was meeting R&B/soul star Anderson.Paak, who guided her through the art of collaborations and expanding her musical artistry. Through a catalog of singles in the past two years, Alexander represents India as a refreshing talent blending urban and pop melodies capturing non-compromising sentiments (“Student of Love,” “Take”).
From her self-released debut E.P. via UnitedMasters, Love or a Lesson, Alexander asserts confidence when facing issues in a love relationship on “Too Much?” Co-producers/multi-instrumentalists Linden Jay (Doja Cat) and Matt Zara (Olivia Dean) contribute their progressive beats alongside Alexander’s contemplative vocals who eventually becomes frustrated over useless time wasting:
“And I know that I’ve given you more than you gave to me,
And I know that I’m tired of pretending to keep the peace,
And we can’t go on like this, so let it be.”
The dance driven video for “Too Much?” has also drawn over half-million views, showcasing Alexander’s vitalizing personality.
