David Hollister joins a historic hip-hop label from his 10 year solo absence with celebratory romance on “Thought You Knew”

After his tenure with the hitmaking vocal band Blackstreet, co-founded by super producer Teddy Riley, David Hollister easily transitioned to the solo ranks, charting regularly on the Billboard R&B Top 25 such as Ghetto Hymns and Chicago ’85…The Movie, alongside two Top 2 Gospel albums.

Despite a decade hiatus from his solo chapter in the studio, Hollister remains artistically sharp as he now signs with one of hip-hop’s legendary companies, Death Row Records, who presently include adult R&B artists to the mix. With his brand new single, “Thought You Knew” (Death Row/gamma.), the Chicago native pairs with co-producer and co-songwriter Snoop Dogg on an enchanting video surrounding Hollister and his lady love: “The stars wink twice they’re in on it, My loves a spark you can’t unlit.” The snappy soundtrack crafted by Snoop and fellow producers Julio Ulloa and MyGuyMars is charmingly decorated with whistling, strings, and keys, anchored by solid grooves.
