A thankful Keith A. Stafford gathers friends to celebrate “A Wonderful Time of Thanksgiving”
He wrote and produced the festive holiday single that began collecting playlist adds on Monday to celebrate a new lease on life after overcoming prostate cancer and heart disease.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (19 NOVEMBER 2025): After spending the last six years battling multiple life-threatening health challenges, including prostate cancer and heart disease, a healthy and vibrant Keith A. Stafford has two projects set for release this holiday season to make up for lost time. Up first, the music industry veteran set his heartfelt feelings of gratitude to song with “A Wonderful Time of Thanksgiving,” the single that was serviced to radio stations and began collecting playlist adds on Monday (November 17) via the KAS-Entertainment label.
Stafford credits his loved ones and medical team for helping him overcome his health challenges, and now he’s relying on some of those friends to release a celebratory song filled with feelings of thanksgiving. He brought in GRAMMY-winning producer, arranger, programmer, and keyboardist, Michael Mani (Santana, Eric Clapton, Narada Michael Walden, Walter Afanasieff) to engineer and perform on the new R&B-pop single. Singing lead is Filipino American singer-songwriter Jay R, whose spirited tenor voice embodies luminescent joy. Stafford sings background vocals.
“My heart and soul are in songwriting and producing songs of inspiration. This song represents part of my healing journey, a journey that is so important in my life. Talking about it makes me emotional, but since 2019, I’ve faced significant health challenges, including prostate cancer and heart disease. However, with guidance from The Most High, I’ve navigated through these storms, and I’m now ready to spread love and blessings worldwide,” said Stafford.
This month’s single release will soon be followed by “A Wonderful Time of Thanksgiving” video. Next month, Stafford will publish a children’s book, “Santa’s Universal Family Tales: A Family Reunion,” a story about a 30-year family reunion involving the Kente Claus character that he created thirty years ago. Decades ago, Stafford marched as Kente Claus in the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who now lives in suburban Los Angeles, Stafford is a father to fourteen children, six of whom he adopted. His artistic projects are purposed with spreading love, peace, and unity globally. Stafford began his music career as an R&B and gospel singer and drummer who toured and performed with the Futures, Delfonics, Dixie Hummingbirds, and Stevie Wonder. His band, Life Group, debuted their 1974 Warner Brothers Records hit, “Tell Me Why,” with a performance on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand. In the 80s, Stafford created, produced, and directed a television series about drug prevention featuring youth and adults in Northern California. He also wrote and produced “Spinks Jinks,” a recording project for heavy weight boxing champion Michael Spinks that was featured on HBO Sports. Since the mid-90s, Stafford has been involved with providing praise and worship musical and motivational talent to churches around the country.
Stafford has designed unique African American gift collections inspired by the rich cultural heritage since 1994. His works include Tribe of One Angel Collection, Kente Claus Holiday Collection, Angels of Inspiration Figurine Collection, and the Little Pride & Joys Porcelain Figurine Collection. In 2000, Stafford produced a Kente Claus single featuring the Boys Choir of Harlem, who debuted the song during their 19-city holiday concert tour that featured Stafford performing as the character.
Earlier this month, Stafford was proud to participate as a fashion model for the St. Jude/Providence Foundation and the Crosson Cancer Institute where he was treated.
“My mindset was to give back to this newfound community of family because the cancer institute saved our lives. The community was incredibly supportive of each other. I never felt alone during my treatment and recovery because of this community, others with the same disease. We are all survivors now and I strive to make the most of this chance to live and contribute fully via my creative output,” said Stafford, who is energized about releasing his new holiday projects.
“I’m thrilled to share a couple of exciting entertainment projects that I’ve poured my heart into over the past year – this ‘A Wonderful Time of Thanksgiving’ single followed by ‘Santa’s Universal Family Tales: A Family Reunion.’ The results are heartfelt creations that I believe set the tone for this coming holiday season.”
