Songstress Tiffany T’Zelle Releases New Single “Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me” | WATCH NEW VIDEO!
Tiffany T’Zelle invites the steppers by revisiting a Gladys Knight treasure, “Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me”
Learning the ropes of vocalizing in her childhood out of a small Baptist church without any instrumentation, Tiffany T’Zelle was already prepared to share her skills with the world. The singer/songwriter paid her dues touring with Diana Ross, Carl Thomas and others before developing her solo recording platform and as a featured vocalist on other tracks. More recently, she re-interpreted Aliyah’s R&B smash, “Are You That Somebody” with David Davis, which was greeted with pleasing fan and critical response.
So, how would T’Zelle fare covering a Billboard soul classic from a vocal legend? In the case of the updated version for Gladys Knight and the Pips’ “Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me,” T’Zelle once again handles her business properly. With an updated steppers perspective on this charted hit from Knight and country superstar Jim Reeves, T’Zelle oozes a sassy charm as demonstrated on the accompanying video backed by three singer/dancers called the Lits. Though the arrangement on Best Thing is updated for the millennium soul era, the organic instrumentation and tight background harmonies are still intact. Most importantly, T’Zelle pays that ultimate respect to Knight and the Pips with her confident vocal and a winning visual presence. Overall, based on her current body of cover work, T’Zelle is more than up to the task in breathing fresh sounds to blasts from the past.
