Long-time R&B and hip-hop favorites Jagged Edge previews their new single, “Genie” from their upcoming CD
Jagged Edge always knows how to pull the emotional strings and how to express their vocal bravado when they tap into the essence of love. For a long while between the late nineties and mid-eighties, the hits kept coming for the Atlanta based vocal quartet and long-time producer, Jermaine Dupri, including “Let’s Get Married,” “Good Luck Charm” and several chart topping R&B/hip-hop tracks. Still keeping their original game plan intact with respectable success without any personnel changes since their inception, Brian Casey, Brandon Casey, Richard Wingo and Kyle Norman eventually founded their own music label, Hard Case, LLC to obtain more control of their musical objectives.
J.E.’s latest track, “Genie”, one of the moments off the upcoming CD entitled A Jagged Love Story, speaks to a woman putting up her guard in committing to a relationship. Set to a bass-tinged, beat pumping slow jam, Brandon Casey commands the lead spot without hesitation to win over his new lady love. Despite the occasional over dependence on the culturally popular ‘Trap’ style in the post-Dupri era, “Genie” finds J.E. reminding their fans of their confident, engaging trademark vocal arrangements.
“Genie” is currently available on most digital outlets.
