September 18 release date for his exciting new CD, All Hooked Up, on his
own Steppin’ Stone Records, with national distribution by INgrooves
Fontana. The new CD was produced by renowned writer/producer Larry
Batiste, recorded at Pajama Recording Studios in Oakland, California,
and features special guests Lucky Peterson on guitar and “The Cleanup
Woman” herself, Betty Wright, who duets with John Lee on the sizzling

Blues Guitar Legend Johnnie Bassett Passes…


Johnnie Bassett
, the celebrated Detroit blues guitarist and vocalist, died from complications of liver cancer on Saturday, August 4 at Saint John Hospital in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. He was 76 years old.

On Saturday, July 6, 1974, Mississippi-Delta bluesman John Lee Hooker was one of the star attractions at an all-day festival attended by 6,000 people. The event in the town of Gardner Massachusetts was called “Down in the Dumps” perhaps the first in what was proposed as a series of musical events to be held in the city landfill area.
