Brighton-based indie/R&B artist Sondae is unveiling his highly anticipated new album ‘BOY’ on December 12 via Wings Music Group.
Known for merging worship and gospel influences with sleek R&B production and emotionally resonant storytelling, Sondae has become one of the most compelling emerging voices redefining faith-led music today. With over 250M lifetime streams and a rapidly expanding global audience, his sound sits at the intersection of contemporary R&B, spirituality, and cultural identity.
Now, with ‘BOY’, Sondae steps boldly into a new era, offering a 12-track exploration of what it truly means to evolve from boy into man. The album explores themes of maturity, responsibility, identity, and the rediscovery of faith in adulthood, offering a sonic and spiritual bridge between independence and surrender.
“BOY is the perpetual motion of a temporary phase. I’m getting married, picking up new responsibilities, burdens got slightly heavier, but I must remain dependent on God, just like a child,” Sondae explains.
“Now that I’m older, I understand what my dad went through. He lost his father at 15 and had to become the man of the house overnight – running the family business and making sure all seven of his siblings stayed in school before he could go back himself. He still managed to get a degree, marry my mum, and build a life for us, but I don’t think he ever had the space to understand what it meant to grow into a man gradually. That’s why he raised me to be hyper-independent, hyper-decisive. Only later did he realise it was the Lord who held him all along. Now he teaches me a new lesson: ‘no matter how much of a man you become, to enter heaven, you must remain a boy at heart.’”
Sonically, ‘BOY’ blends rich R&B, sleek production and strong rhythms, shifting between high-energy tracks and soulful, introspective moments, anchored by Sondae’s vivid storytelling and contemporary Christian themes.
Featuring standout singles ‘SANCTIFY ME LORD, AGAIN’, ‘ONLY WHAT GOD CAN GIVE’, and most recently ‘LOVER’, the album extends the personal narrative Sondae began on his 2023 release ‘Diary Entry’. Where that project wrestled with identity, ‘BOY’ examines the inevitable collision between the dreams of youth and the responsibilities of adulthood.
