Chicago Soul Band Ascendant to Release New Single “Love Saved My Life” on May 23rd, 2025
Chicago Soul band Ascendant’s new single and City Winery Chicago show
Soulful. Inspiring. Authentic. True. Just a few words that people use to describe Ascendant and their artistry, and yet Ascendant is simply that…ascendant…rising above.
Since their start over 20 years ago, Ascendant has risen into a remarkable powerhouse band that continues to excite, uplift, and inspire people all over the world. The current Ascendant roster includes original members Kael Mboya on keys/vocals and Michael Lockett on vocals/percussion, with Renee Ruffin on vocals, Eric Johnson on drums and Donica Lynn on vocals. Collectively, they are continuously sought-after and have shared stages with such music legends as Rachelle Ferrell, Malik Yusef, Meshell Ndegeocello and the late George Duke.
Ascendant will be releasing the new single “Love Saved My Life” in several iterations (think of this as an EP or Maxi-Single release) on Friday, May 23.
The band will be playing at City Winery on Wednesday, June 11 as noted at https://citywinery.com/chicago/events/ascendant-zthwe0
