next single off her forthcoming debut EP!

Blues/soul musician Louisa Rowley is turning 2024 into the year of ballads as the release of, To Be Me, on the 13th of September marks the second of the year for this singer-songwriter. Hot off the heals of February’s, A Peaceful Retirement, Rowley is once again pulling at your heartstrings as she delves into her subconscious and tells the story of what it is really like, ‘to be me’.

Influenced by the soulful sensibilities of Amy Winehouse and Stephen Sanchez, the song tackles the all-too-familiar theme of anxiety. Hoping to shed light on the everyday plights of living with anxiety, the song brings refreshingly honest and raw lyrics that detail the realities of being, as she says, ‘the emotional one’. Written just a few months before her autism diagnosis at aged 23, the track brings a delectable perspective that is as ironic as it is insightful into the difficulties many people, particularly women, on the spectrum face. Twinned, once again, with the fantastic production of Richard Marc, the track combines old and new, with the bluesy chords of Marc’s guitar and Rowley’s ukulele being paired with haunting vox synths that bring a unique sound quality that is both nostalgic and modern. This retro-soulful signature of Louisa’s is sure to delight both new and returning fans!

For the uninitiated, Louisa Rowley is a 24-year-old singer-songwriter from Southeast England who combines sentimental and emotive lyrics with bright ukulele tones as she replicates the music she loves in the form of blues, soul, and jazz. Bringing modern themes to an old sound, Louisa uses her music to explore her anxiety, late diagnosed autism, and post-adolescent experiences, crafting a sound that is both uplifting and hard-hitting, old, and new. Think Bonnie Raitt meets Elvis meets Amy Winehouse! She has been writing music for 6 years, performing for 5 years and for the last 2 years, has undergone the process of releasing her music. Having kicked off the process of releasing her debut EP, To Be Me, marks the second single release for the EP, following on from February’s, A Peaceful Retirement. A Peaceful Retirement detailed Rowley’s anxiety and how it affected her perspective of the future, in an all-out Elvis style ballad that garnered over 7000 streams on Spotify (a new best for the artist!), and spent several months on Amazing Radio’s, Amazing RnB Playlist!
