Jam and Lewis keep the hits coming ushering in their upcoming Volume One release, featuring Mariah Carey on “Somewhat Loved (There You Go Breakin’ My Heart)”

Through all the years of behind-the-scenes production and musicianship wizardry for top of the line stars from The Minneapolis Sound family (Alexander O’Neal, S.O.S Band, i.e) to Janet (Jackson) and Johnny (Gill), Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are now calling the shots as their own artists. While the wait winds down for their 35-year celebration debut full-length, Volume 1, the duo has already unleashed two tracks from Babyface and Sounds of Blackness.

This time, it is Mariah Carey’s turn with “Somewhat Loved (There You Go Breakin’ My Heart Again).” Jam and Lewis’ funky sweet and emphatic beats always suits the mood, no matter who is on the microphone, and Carey’s honey-tinged vocals capped by her signature remarkable high notes declare romantic heartbreak in the first degree: “Breakin’ my heart again/No such thing as lovers and friends.” Soon Jam and Lewis’ Volume One will be arrive with a star-studded cast along with a glorious thirty five years of musical excellence to back it all up.

For now, check out “Somewhat Loved” on YouTube.
