Marcus Anderson to Release New Album “Hero” on May 29th

Marcus Anderson breaks down what a Hero means to him for his upcoming 13th CD

One tool that a musician has at their disposal is their remarkable gift of inspiring fans through triumphant and troublesome times. In comforting our souls during an intense season of a globally charged health crisis, Marcus Anderson detours our minds with a spark of retrospect. For his 13th CD, the veteran jazz saxophonist conceives instrumental stories that encompass Hero (Anderson Music) set to fusion, futuristic funk, sultry quiet storm and spicy Latin backdrops.

Several featured talents from the contemporary jazz world join Anderson on several tracks, beginning with the lead single, “Just A Taste,” a fundamentally smooth sailing good time matching Anderson’s saxophone with Tim Bowman’s silky rich guitar. Also included on Hero are pianist Bob Baldwin (“On the Right Track”) and bass guitarist Julian Vaughn melodic touches that decorate “A Brighter Smile.” Anderson also reaches back to the eighties and nineties’ electro heavy “Let’s Groove,” the Latin jazz driven “Your Cha’ Cha” and spotlights his saxophone virtuosity on the title track. While the world this season is undoubtedly on edge, we are grateful for musical heroes like Anderson to provide a sense of calm.
