Up-and-coming New Vocalist Mahalia Fontaine Releases New Single “Empires” on Feb. 21st, 2020.

Hailing from West London, powerhouse Mahalia Fontaine debuts as a solo artist, with a gift far beyond her years. Her music is an extension of her bold personality drawing influences from Fela Kuti, Bob Marley and D’angelo and vocal influences by Mahalia Jackson and Sarah Vaughn. Alongside her deep rooted Afro-Caribbean upbringing, living only a stone’s throw away from Bush Empire and Lyric Hammersmith made for a solid foundation in the arts.

In the same path as her prolific namesake, Mahalia Fontaine first started singing in church, and then a lead singer in an award winning BBC school gospel choir.

Whilst completing a degree in Popular Music Performance at BIMM London, Mahalia joined The Kingdom Choir, and sang at the Royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 2018. Mahalia once a member with The Kingdom Choir has toured the UK and USA.

Despite these successes a pivotal moment of Mahalia Fontaine life came after her father suddenly died in 2015. Mahalia has used her pain and experience to weave through her music, style and sound.

From the depth of these experiences, this free spirit is now ready to release and inspire a new generation of music lovers with liberation, faith, and passion.
