Syleena Johnson to Release New Album “Woman” on Jan. 31st, 2020 | WATCH Video for “Freelance Lover!”
One of R&B’s reality divas, Syleena Johnson, follows up her hit single “Woman” with an upcoming, much anticipated CD of the same name
There is one affirmative constant when speaking about Syleena Johnson. She will never rob her audiences on how she feels about the power and influence behind the female. Whether trials and tribulations or joy and fulfillment, Johnson’s series of recordings entitled Chapters that all charted on the R&B Top 50 were therapy sessions in motion.
After a more than long waiting period since her last track, the blues-drenched anthem, “Woman,” the time has finally arrived in January 2020 to experience Johnson at her artistic best once again threading the needle with R&B and soul on the aptly titled project, Woman (SJ Entertainment/eOne). This invigorating body of work reflects the full spectrum of the woman, such as the title track: “I’m a mother, a lover, a fighter, a rider/A sister to the game of survival, a thriver (That’s right).” Speaking her mind on behalf of the ladies on several tracks, “Freelance Lover,” a stripped down ballad decked with exquisitely layered background voices, calls out men in loving a woman for the wrong reasons: “You’re just a freelance lover/Slippin’ from their fingers/You love and leave them.” Yet, there is always room for all out grown folks time with “Come Inside My House.” No matter what the subject on Woman, Johnson lays out the truth with a voice that cuts like several knives.
