OYA Directs and Releases New Music Video “Accentuate The Postive”
August 27, 2014-LOS ANGELES, CA – Independent music artist OYA, has directed and released her latest music video ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVE, a remake of the popular 1940’s jazz standard, from her debut cd SPIRIT OF OYA.
Shot as a black and white film, the five minute movie, is set in a nightclub, a cultural mainstay during the Big Band Era of the 1940s and breeding ground for rising stars. Oya in the director’s chair, captures the 1940’s nightlife experience with bluesy jazz, showgirls and dancing, depicting an integral part of the time. “I love to create and bring my visions to life. I transferred my ideas for “Accentuate the Positive” into a movie treatment, writing, directing, producing and casting. It’s exactly what I visualized,” declares Oya.
Alongside Oya in the music video, is notable actor Miguel A. Núñez, Jr., playing the nightclub’s MC, best known for his role in the 2002 comedy movie, Juwanna Mann. “I think Oya is one of those pure voices that rarely comes along. Sexy, sultry & stylish! Her talents reach far beyond her vocal ability. She is a great producer and a true amazing all around talent,” says Núñez
ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVE, lyrics recites a verbatim lifestyle for the songstress in that it’s a direct reflection of her being. Oya says, “Accentuate the Positive is a record that speaks to who I am. I’m known for always looking for the positive in every situation. I believe accentuating the positive is the key to happiness.”
ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVE was written by Harold Arlen and the lyrics by Johnny Mercer, and was first published in 1944. Since then, it has been recorded by several great artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke, Paul McCartney and Bing Crosby. With a passion to entertain and a powerful voice, Oya, has added her name to this dynamic list of musicians.
