Billboard star Eric ‘EQ’ Young lands distribution deal with City Hall Records
SAN FRANCISCO, July 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Singer, song writer and virtuoso bass player Eric ‘EQ’ Young couldn’t’ be happier with how the year is shaping up so far; his debut R&B smash single “Never Stop Loving” has stayed strong on the Billboard Top 25 Hot Singles Sales Chart for two consecutive weeks and as of this month Eric has closed a distribution deal with San Rafael, California Independent record distributer City Hall Records.
Eric says with excitement: “The street date is September 17, 2013. We did our research when looking for distribution and it’s near my home town, when we approached them for distribution they felt my project would be successful due to my team and efforts completed so far”
It’s a perfect match for Eric, a self taught, intuitive native of the San Francisco Bay Area, certainly considering Eric has worked with many of the artists already distributed by City Hall, from legends like Funkadelic and Bar-kays, to Dazz Band. EQ has also been a fixture of classic funk band Con Funk Shun for twenty years.
For his solo material though Eric is enjoying bringing some refreshing music to the table; “It really surprises people because they are so use to me bringing old school funk. My blend is more of an element of R&B, funk, rock and soul. My solo album is up tempo groove music” Says Eric, and as for the first fruits of this new musical direction reaching number nine on Billboard; Eric says; “It felt as though I won the Grammy. It felt like a birth of a child. Here is my baby “Never Stop Loving”.
With his eyes fixed firmly on the prize, EQ is gearing up to release his debut music video for his “Never Stop Loving” single to coincide with his official distribution date, as well as planning the next single “Why U Funkin?” which Eric promises to be ‘a relationship funk groove’.
A performer with a huge conscience, Eric is driven by a passion to help and heal through his music; he has performed overseas for the troops and is currently helping establish music programs for schools, but his biggest cause are innocent victims of violent crime, for deeply personal reasons; as Eric lost his daughter in a tragic and senseless shooting several years ago.
“I use music as my medication; it has motivated me to be a better person and not to give up. There is no recovery when your child is murdered. You devise methods to cope. A community is forever altered by murder. Last year I sponsored a child whose brother was murdered to attend a camp; I donate and keep in touch with people, particularly fathers that have lost their children”
