Curtis Fields Releases New Single, “Smoke & Mirrors” | New EP, “Cherish The Day” Coming March 30th, 2012
Curtis Fields is an 25 year old eccentric, emerging singer/songwriter and multi-instrumental musician with a beautiful blend of sounds influenced from the soul-stirring melodies of past and present Soul & Rock music greats such as Donny Hathaway, D’Angelo, the Beatles, Maroon 5 and Third Eye Blind.
Curtis Field’s common life experiences has inspired him to write and produce his own music that comes from a deep, spiritual understanding of human life, love and suffrage. Always different, Curtis began to distinguish himself from other singers by mastering his gift and studying vocal technique during his time at Fisk University as Jubilee Singer.
At an early age, Curtis honed his performance skills from singing gospel during his father’s national traveling ministry. It was during these performances that Curtis developed a diverse perspective on music. His sound reflects the various music styles he heard while traveling across country.
In 2006, Curtis entered Fisk University in Nashville, TN. Here, Curtis developed an even greater love for music as he trained and traveled with the college’s internationally prestigious Jubilee Singers. It was during one of the group’s performances that Curtis realized he wanted to follow his passion and make singing his professional aspiration. While at Fisk, Curtis became a member of the first Greek organization for African Americans, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, joining the ranks of such greats as Martin Luther King, Jr. and Fredrick Douglass.
In addition to launching his professional singing career full time, performing with Jon Legend, beating out hundreds of hopefuls to win the WQQK 92.1 Nashville radio station’s Grand Stand Competition, Curtis also graduated from Fisk, had a baby boy, and married his college sweet heart all in the same year.
Curtis Fields continues to wow crowds with his three octave voice, opening for Neo-Soul’s budding star, Eric Roberson, and at the historical UniverSoul Circus in various cities. Curtis 1st single “Black Cherry” received rave reviews on music blogs and thanks to the online community; Black Cherry is reaching foreign ears, being played in Japan and Holland. Black Cherry also made it to #2 in Jazz /Funk category on CD Baby’s Top 5. The official music video for Black Cherry will debut in April. Now Curtis follows that up with a new Single entitled Smoke and Mirrors, a timeless R&B classic that showcases Curtis vocal ability like never before.
