Bob Baldwin Releases New Single “Rise Above It (The Ascension Song)”

Songwriter/Arranger Bob Baldwin’s music is beyond Contemporary, Straight and Smooth jazz music. He dropped a Straight and Smooth album in 2024 to rave reviews.

But he refuses to be pigeon-holed. At the end of the day, Baldwin’s music is downright inspirational using jazz elements. He’s received emails from people in service during wartime, and even a few chemo patients use his music to get through a grueling chemo session. They said it brings a sense of calm to a stressful situation.

His latest single release “Rise Above It” (The Ascension Song)” speaks to the struggles that he finds himself and friends and fans alike, re-adjusting to life in 2020’s. “The earth is shifting, people are trying to keep up with the day-to-day grind”, says the native New Yorker. “We’re all adjusting! But then there are the obstacles and pitfalls that get in the way as well, and we all have to maneuver around those potholes in life. If that’s not enough, there’s resistance from people, family, friends that want to get in the way of you elevating, and somehow, we have to rise above all of those uber-negative frequencies”.

His release is available for Radio, Streaming, YouTube and SiriusXM Satellite Radio on May 11, 2025, and released on City Sketches Records and distributed through The Orchard / Sony Music. Look for a new album in late 2025 or top of 2026.

The National Recording Artist, Grammy-Nominated Super Producer, Composer, Arranger, NewUrbanJazz Lounge Radio Host, and Label Entrepreneur recently won the 2022 Inaugural Jazz Music Award for The Best Contemporary Album category. Helping him on the single is Rick Watford and Eric Valentine on guitars and drums, respectively, as well as some sweet trumpet/flugelhorn by Barry Danielian, who was on a brief break from his Springsteen tour dates.
