Blending ‘00s R&B and neo soul with jazz influences, North London singer-songwriter, producer, and DJ Ruby Francis releases her new single, “Back 2 Myself”. Following the release of her previous single “Pages of Philosophy”, both tracks are taken from her forthcoming self-produced sophomore EP of the same name, set to be released this summer.

Produced during the 2020 lockdown and co-written by Laura Roy, “Back 2 Myself”, Ruby reflects on self-care and healing after a relationship. She shares, “Going through beautiful moments in love and creating long-lasting memories also came with a side of self-abandonment. ‘Back To Myself’ is my homecoming. It’s a gentle reminder to those who feel out of touch with themselves to stop looking externally for answers that already lie within you.”

Born to a Jamaican father and an Italian-British mother, Ruby had a musically rich upbringing. Her father, a bass player, performed in bands throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s, and her music-loving mother played a pivotal role in shaping her musical journey. Starting young, Ruby took piano lessons at age 10, started writing songs by 11, and began learning production in her early teens. Inspired by artists like Stevie Wonder, Björk, Chaka Khan, Joni Mitchell, Astrud Gilberto, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, and The Neptunes, Ruby has created a sound that pays homage to her influences.

Ruby Francis released her debut album, “Archives”, in 2021. Entirely self-written and produced in her bedroom studio, the independent release has garnered over a million streams and includes features from Grammy Award winners and nominee Blue Lab Beats and Laura Roy.

New EP “Pages of Philosophy” is due for release this summer.
