Afro-Pop/Soul Singer TolumiDE to Release New Album “Suya Soul” on Feb. 7th, 2025

Soulful Album Reflects a Deep-Seated Sense of Gratitude

January 31st, 2025: While life’s unique experiences can help inform who we become, our roots will always be a part of who we are. In Afro-pop/soul singer/songwriter TolumiDE’s upcoming album, she embraces her cultural heritage through soulful songs infused with West-African-Nigerian influence. With thoughtful lyrics about throwbacks, beautiful friendships, sunshine, peace, and love, she tells of her lifelong journey from childhood to becoming an Afropolitan woman. Set to release February 7th, 2025, TolumiDE’s 15-track album, Suya Soul,” is a compilation of inspirational songs that each reflect a deep-seated sense of gratitude.

“I’m growing and learning more about myself and the joys and pains of being an adult with more responsibilities, more relationships, experiences and more golden moments,” TolumiDE shares. “I’m grateful to God for the experiences and the heart to keep moving and keep looking forward to brighter days when cloudy moments arise.”

All songs on “Suya Soul” were written by TolumiDE, who enjoyed the creative process in collaboration with other artists, musicians, and producers. Notably, “Throwback” features Tosin Otudeko (aka The Garden Theatre), while “Goody Goody” features Latunde Silver. Album producers include Vincent Othieno, Terry Poindexter, Dayo Afolabi, Vershawn Thompson, James Mckinney, Lorenzo Johnson and Jens Gad. Musicians featured on the album are also a part of TolumiDE’s band ensemble, and include Emmanuel Adams (Drums/Music Director), Chris Ejenake (Bass), Kevin Prince (Percussion), Tosin Aribisala (Drums), John Basheghezi (Guitar), Olaolu Ajibade (Drums) , Seyi Clegg (Saxophone), and Ola Thomas (African Talking Drummer). Throughout the process of creating this album, TolumiDE has been pleasantly surprised by how each song has come to life.

TolumiDE’s music has been described as “a big blend of Afro-pop, funky reggae, neo-soul and jazz injecting her African heritage using bilingual lyrics, into a friendlier foundation of melodic pop and R&B balladry.” Currently, she is a voting Grammy Member with the Recording Academy, serving as the DC Chapter’s Governor, as well as Non-profit Afropolitan Youth who are the hosts of FestAfrica. Her accolades include winning the Best R&B Female Artist at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards, opening for Les Nubians at the Howard Theatre, opening for Salif Keita, singing with Toby Foyeh and Africa Orchestra at the Toronto Jazz Festival. In addition, she has had the opportunity to headline a show at the Legendary Blues Alley in Washington D.C.

The future is bright for TolumiDE, who will soon release “Suya Soul” on vinyl, CD, and cassette tapes. With plans to perform songs from her new album at live shows, she looks forward to touring the United States, Europe, and Africa.

No matter how audiences experience her music, TolumiDE wants them “to feel good, happy, motivated when they are feeling low and hyped when they are feeling happy.”
