R&B/Soul Artist Oya Releases “Look at Us Rise” on World Unity Day
Oya has dedicated her life and work to fostering safe spaces for real healing, using her platforms as a speaker, author and musician to advocate for mental health, suicide prevention, and delivering a message of love.
LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) OCTOBER 19, 2022 – R&B/Soul artist, activist and author Oya Thomas celebrates World Unity Day on October 19, with the release of the single and lyric video “Look at Us Rise,” an uplifting song that aims to start the conversation on rising above adversity, discrimination and hate.
Originally written for the 19th Annual Unforgettable Gala, which celebrates Asian Pacific Islander achievement in arts, entertainment and culture, Oya performed “Look at Us Rise” as the grand finale, joined by singers Korean Soul, AJ Rafael, Alyssa Navarro, and more.
The author behind “The 5 Star Points of Success,” Oya says that the lyrics for “Look at Us Rise” were inspired by her interactions with diverse groups of people from all walks of life, realizing that while some may not be aware of discrimination outside their own community, everyone has experienced bullying and prejudice in some form. And every one is entitled to bring treated with love and dignity. Releasing the single on October 19 is particularly special because World Unity Day champions kindness, acceptance and inclusion, making sure that no one experiences bullying.
Together with the single release is the premiere of the “Look at Us Rise” lyric video, which features images of people of all ages and races facing adversity and overcoming bullying by showing love and respect for each other.
“We’re all really dealing with this; hate is hate, but we can combat it together,” says Oya, adding that she hopes to use her platform to amplify marginalized voices and open minds and hearts to starting social change.

“Share your story of unity. Let’s talk about stories of what you can do to make a change in your work or family, how you show up for your own community,” says Oya. “When there is bullying and discrimination, what are you doing about it? What can we do about it? How can we help others in our community unite?”
