(June 11, 2020) R&B/Soul singer-songwriter Leela James, who continues to define the genre and is recognized as one of the leading ladies forging soul music, is thrilled to announce the release of her long-awaited seventh studio album See Me, slated to be released July 30 via distributor BMG. The album features singer/rapper Mumu Fresh and songwriting and production by Rex Rideout and Jairus “JMo” Mozee. Leela is very excited to share this new project with her fans and this 11-track album will take listeners on a ride of sheer emotion. See Me is available for pre-order today!

Today, Ms. James also delivered what will certainly be a fan favorite with the release of her new song and video “Put It On Me.” Over the pulsating soul-dripped track, James does what she does best – flexing her vocal range against a bittersweet backdrop that vibrantly displays her self-awareness, confidence, originality, and putting “me” first, an attitude that has earned her the support of dedicated fans, critics, musical peers, and icons.

Leela’s first single, “Complicated,” released earlier this spring, just entered the Top Ten at Adult R&B radio and continues to blaze the airwaves, finding its way onto everyone’s playlist. The catchy, mid-tempo “Complicated” showcases James’ distinctive, raw vocal style and showcases her catchy and emotive lyrical storytelling.

The powerhouse R&B singer/songwriter most recently delivered an emotional vocal performance at the George Floyd Commemorative Concert in Houston with her live rendition of the title track “See Me,” an anthem for anyone that’s been overlooked or feel they don’t matter. The song served as a fitting tribute to Mr. Floyd and to all the black men and women who lost their lives to senseless brutality.
