New Whitney Houston Biopic “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” Coming Soon

ANOTHER PROMISING BIOPIC IS COMING: WHITNEY HOUSTON

It’s official, one of the most memorable voices the music has ever had to offer is having a Biopic. Titled “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”, the production for the film has already begun with an amazing crew that we hope gives us Whitney the tribute that she deserves.

The crew that was called to give shape to the film is, to say the least, one to be optimistic about. The movie will be directed by Canadian Stella Meghie (The Photograph), and the script will be in the hands of Anthony McCarten (known for his sublime work on other Biopics such as The Theory of Everything, Darkest Hour and Bohemian Rhapsody), all according to

The film has been publicly endorsed and supported by Houston’s State, said Pat Houston (former sister-in-law and manager of the late performer), as well as Clive Davis, an important part of her rise to the top of the music business. He was the first person to reach McCarten, to offer him the opportunity to make this movie on April last year, according to .

Although the movie does not have either a release date nor confirmed cast and was announced that “the project doesn’t have a studio attached”, it has caused an interesting response. There are high hopes for the film and there could be some pressure to the already-successful Scriptwriter McCarten whose work has got him nominated 4 times for an Academy Award.

Pat Houston has said “The Estate of Whitney Houston is more than elated to be involved with a group of people that are as passionate about Whitney’s life story as we are. Whitney’s legacy deserves only the best that can be given. I stand with the hearts of these partners being the chosen ones to produce a film that’s uplifting and inspiring to all that loved her, giving you a reason to continue to celebrate The Voice that we all fell in love with and will cherish forever!”

The director was behind the movie on Queen’s uprise, centered on their vocalist Freddie Mercury, titled ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. Therefore, McCarten seems the right call to do another biopic of an iconic music star as Whitney was (and still is, despite being no longer among us).

As we said there’s still no official release date, but there’s a lot of content relating to this great performer, as she’s to be posthumously inducted this year into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on November. There’s also the possibility for a Whitney Houston hologram tour, as noted by . Besides, there’s the documentary Whitney available on Hulu.

So there are many alternatives for those who want to know a bit more about one of the most prolific voices in the history of music, winning multiple Grammys, Billboard music awards, and even an Emmy for her performance on the 28th Grammy Music Awards.

This incredible artist, who spent the ‘80s and ‘90s with a perfect record, is nonetheless, remembered for her incredible songs and also participated in movies. Most notoriously ‘The Bodyguard’, in which Whitney acted with Kevin Costner in 1993. The movie was not well acclaimed among the critics but is still a popular rom-com. Whitney also starred in 4 other movies, the last one being ‘Sparkle’ in 2012.

Whitney is also fondly remembered for her rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner”, the USA national anthem in 1991, in the NFL betting event the SuperBowl. Until this day it is still said that no one has come close to sing the anthem the way Houston did. Hopefully the movie pays tribute to that moment.
