Corinne Bailey Rae follows the reveal of the first two songs from her remarkable new album, The Heart Speaks In Whispers (Virgin Records, May 13), with the launch of the arresting video for the album’s first official single “Stop Where You Are.”
“Sometimes we hold our happiness away from ourselves because we’re waiting for the perfect moment and we say, ‘When I get this job, I’ll be happy. When I lose this weight, I’ll be happy. When I get a partner, I’ll be happy,’” says Corinne. “So I really wanted to write this song, which is about being in the moment and being present, and stopping and ritualizing the moment, celebrating it.”
The Heart Speaks In Whispers is rich in fresh ideas and full of emotional energy which surges through its songs like electricity. Recorded both at her studio in Leeds, and in Los Angeles, the album is co-produced by Corinne with Steve Brown, her collaborator on her critically acclaimed previous album The Sea. “Stop Where You Are” is available now on all streaming sites and as an instant grat download with pre-orders of The Heart Speaks In Whispers along with “Been To The Moon” and “Green Aphrodisiac.”
A run of select album release performances in the U.S. sold out instantly including intimate shows at Mercury Lounge in Manhattan (May 24), National Sawdust in Brooklyn (May 25), and The Lyric Theatre in Los Angeles (June 9-10). Corinne will be one of the featured performers on BET’s “BLACK GIRLS ROCK!” which honors Rihanna, Shonda Rhimes, Gladys Knight and others. It will be broadcast Tuesday, April 5 at 8:00pm on BET.
