New Band Aabaraki Releases New EP, “The Emancipation” | Available Now


(New York, NY–May 22nd, 2012)–Aabaraki’s new album “The Emancipation” is officially in stores today, and available for purchase digitally. The four piece band that describes their sound as alt-soul: “Gnarls Barkley meets the Black Keys”, was the first band to record at the Converse Rubber Tracks Studio in Brooklyn, NY with grammy-award winning engineer Matt Shane. The 5-track EP flows seamlessly and carries strong singles such as the song “What I Got”, a story of apathetic seduction, and the sequel to the lead single “DanceShee”.

“We are excited to be releasing “The Emancipation” EP”, shares Brian Forbes, guitarist for Aabaraki. “We think it marks a new stage in our evolution as a band! We are setting a new bar for ourselves in terms of songwriting, production and most importantly performance.”

In support of the album’s unveiling, Aabaraki will be performing at Rockwood Music Hall on May 25th. The band also announced new shows for June.

Formed by guitarist Brian Forbes, vocalist/keyboardist Akie Bermiss, drummer Aaron Steele, and bassist Ari Folman-Cohen, Aabaraki released their self-titled debut EP in June 2011. The project received critical acclaim with features on OkayPlayer.com, 2DopeBoyz.com, Giantstep and many more. Aabaraki was also one of the featured artists of the Converse “Rubber Tracks” short-film series. Known for their remarkable live show, Aabaraki has also performed several times alongside Grammy nominated singer Emily King. The band is gearing to release their second album The Emancipation on May 22nd, 2012, and will embark on a nationwide tour shortly after.
