New Jazz Release: Eric Reed | Something Beautiful

Rising Piano Star Eric Reed’s “Something Beautiful” is…indeed…Something To Look Out For! Available Now!

Eric Reed, named in the ‘Rising Star, Piano’ category in this year’s
Downbeat magazine’s 59th Annual International Critics Poll, here
releases Something Beautiful on WJ3 Records. This collection marks Reed’s 20th CD as a leader – a milestone for a musician of Reed’s young age. Something Beautiful
exemplifies Reed’s extraordinary song writing and ability to deftly
re-imagine some of the most remarkable tunes in the jazz, gospel and pop
idioms. The world-renowned pianist is joined by bassist Reuben Rogers
and drummer Rodney Green who serve as the ideal match for Reed’s intense
and urging style. Included among the outstanding tracks on Something Beautiful are jazz standards Sun Out, penned by saxophonist Lucky Thompson; Dave Brubeck’s In Your Own Sweet Way; Irving Berlin’s How Deep Is The Ocean; Rodgers & Hart’s I Still Believe In You and re-imaginings of pop and rock tunes Black Tables, originally heard on the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ TV series and recorded by the band Other Lives; and Billy Joel’s Honesty
to which Reed gives haunting and velvety treatment. The collection
closes with two of the pianist’s original compositions: the title track
and If I Knew You.
