with HIV/AIDS Awareness Town Hall Meeting

New York, NY – September 2011 –
Ms. Dionne Warwick has been and continues to be a pioneer in the fight against HIV/AIDS.  Ms. Warwick’s tireless efforts date back to the early 80’s, as one of the first African-American celebrities to align her with the fight against this epidemic, bringing attention to the plight, not only domestically, but internationally as well.
 
Through her philanthropic work, Ms. Warwick has brought awareness, education and compassion to communities across the country.  This year, the lady herself celebrates 50 outstanding years in the entertainment industry.
 
On Monday, September 26th, Ms. Warwick will join forces with the New York City- based Harlem United Community AIDS Center, to present the “That’s What Friends Are For” Town Hall Meeting on HIV & AIDS.  This meeting will address prevention, testing and diagnosis, as well as discuss updates on the latest treatments.
 
Ms. Warwick is inviting her celebrity friends from the diverse areas of music, television, theater, politics and medicine to join her in donating their time and energy to address this epidemic that has been plaguing our communities.
