NEW YORK, NY–(Marketwire – October 18, 2010) –  Atlantic recording artist Laura Izibor is set to unveil a new track recorded especially for her debut appearance on The CW’s hit series, One Tree Hill. The song, entitled “Can’t Be Love,” arrives at all DSPs on October 19^th.

That same day will see the Dublin-based singer performing”Can’t Be Love” as part of her television acting debut on the long-running drama. Izibor will join the One Tree Hill cast as “Erin,” a recurring role slated to appear throughout the series’ current season. 

“There’s a musician I fell in love with and a storyline I fell in love with,” One Tree Hill creator/executive producer Mark Schwahn recently told TVGuide.com,”and we actually married them together for Laura Izibor. She’s really compelling, I loved her record, I really loved her accent and her vibe,and felt that was an energy we hadn’t included on our show.”

What’s more, Izibor’s new rendition of the show’s official theme song, “I Don’t Want To Be” by Gavin DeGraw, will premiere alongside her acting debut. The song will also be made available on the One Tree Hill website, http://cwtv.com/shows/one-tree-hill. One Tree Hill was created by Mark Schwahn and is executive produced by Schwahn, Joe Davola, Greg Prange, Mike Tollin, and Brian Robbins. One Tree Hill is produced by Mastermind Laboratories, Tollin/Robbins Productions in association with Warner Bros. In other news, Izibor will be featured on Atlantic’s “FOR COLORED GIRLS: MUSIC FROM & INSPIRED BY THE ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE,” the official soundtrack companion to Tyler Perry’s upcoming film, For Colored Girls. The album is highlighted by a stunning rendition of the classic Nina Simone song, “Four Women,” performed by Izibor alongside the late Nina Simone herself, Simone (the legendary singer’s daughter), and Ledisi. Izibor’s own “What More Can They Do” will be also included among new and unreleased tracks from an assortment of female artists, including Estelle, Janelle Monáe, Macy Gray, Leona Lewis, and Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings. “FOR COLORED GIRLS: MUSIC FROM & INSPIRED BY THE ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE” arrives in stores and online on November 2^nd, while Lionsgate/34^th Street Films’ production of For Colored Girls hits theatres nationwide on November 5^th. 

To celebrate the soundtrack’s release, Izibor will perform “What More Can They Do” live on BET’s The Mo’Nique Show, slated for broadcast on Wednesday, October 27^th at 11pm/10c (check local listings).

The critically acclaimed Irish soul singer — who is currently in the studio recording the eagerly awaited follow-up to her acclaimed 2008 debut, “LET THE TRUTH BE TOLD” — was recently among the influential young stars showcased on the BET/Centric series, Grey Goose Presents Rising Icons. Theshow, which features an in-depth interview with Izibor as well as an intimate live performance, debuted earlier this month and is scheduledto re-air on Centric throughout October (check local listings). Thesegment is also now streaming at http://www.bet.com/video/1359442.
