Nokia Names Michael Jackson as The Most-Downloaded Musician of All Time
Nokia names Michael Jackson as the most-downloaded musician of all time
Michael Jackson continues to rule the pop music
industry even after his death. His music albums are repeatedly topping
top music charts all across the world.

(Free-Press-Release.com) September 3, 2010 —
Michael Jackson, the King of Pop has posthumously beaten out every
recording artist, even the Beiber, to become the most-downloaded solo
artist of all time. The study was conducted by Nokia’s Ovi Music Store
using its download sales records.
www.jacksonsecretvault.com/?page=mjuservideos According to
information collected by Nokia’s Ovi music store, Michael Jackson has
even surpassed the previous record holder, Elvis Presley; modern day
entertainer Lady Gaga, the Black Eyed Peas, Jay Chou, Rihanna and a host
of other world’s most popular musicians to achieve this title.
Critics speculate that Jackson’s first death
anniversary on 25th June and the overwhelming tribute from his fans on
what would have been his 52nd birthday this 29th August, has lead to a
surge in the sales figures. Geoff Roberts, a student of music, said,
“Michael Jackson has perennially been a music legend in pop. However,
the anniversary of Michael’s death and his upcoming birthday
celebrations appear to have revived Jacko’s fever all over again amongst
his fans.”
Michael Jackson’s popular 1982 solo, “Beat It,” is the most popular
music track in Nokia’s Ovi store, with his “Billie Jean” and “Thriller”
track lagging close behind. The Ovi store reveals that the track “This
Is It” has been downloaded almost twice as much as any other of
Michael’s albums. Moreover, the “Beat It” track has been downloaded most
across 36 countries with India contributing 26 % of all these
downloads. This is because Michael Jackson is highly popular in India
followed by countries like UK, Germany, Netherlands and Finland.
Unfortunately, the view counts for Michael Jackson’s sound tracks on online music portals, YouTube
and Vevo, are not even near to those of Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga
who constantly have been battling it out in these portals for pop
music’s supremacy all through this year.
However, when it comes to overall impact on international music fan
culture, YouTube records are hardly any standard barometer of
importance. When Michael Jackson died last summer, tweets mentioning his
name accounted for an unparalleled 30% of all tweets that particular
day. Moreover, during Jackson’s memorial service the same year, more
than half a million status updates were seen in Facebook.
Though Nokia’s Ovi store is a small
representation of a larger market of online track sales, nevertheless
the company’s sales data surely makes sense when one considers other social media statistics around Michael Jackson, his life and his tragic death.
