Dr. Jerome C. Crichton Presents TransAtlantic Journey – A Concept Album Celebrating the History and Resilience of African Ancestors through

February 18, 2025 – TransAtlantic Journey, the highly anticipated interdisciplinary album by musician, theologian, and psychologist Dr. Jerome C. Crichton, is set to redefine how Black music heritage is understood.
This remarkable project weaves the history of enslaved Africans and Dr. Crichton’s own transatlantic journey into an Afro Fusion Jazz narrative that combines original compositions with graphic art to honor the resilience, artistry, and cultural contributions of those who endured the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
The project includes a visually striking, limited-edition collector’s item, with album artwork by Debra Brewer and photography by Ron Pollard.
The album cover tells the story of Dr. Crichton’s ancestral heritage, with an image of a slave ship across his chest, while the backdrop features a rare map of the North Atlantic Ocean, adding an artistic dimension to this important historical project.
“TransAtlantic Journey is a project born of passion, scholarship, and my deep commitment to the progress and lasting strength of Black culture and Black music globally,” shared Dr. Crichton.
“The project is personal to me and a tribute to my ancestral family and the origins of my musical ingenuity that is directly tied to them and to Africa. Their life journey prepared me for my own.”
Each track on TransAtlantic Journey is rooted in extensive research and reimagines the journey of enslaved Africans through the Atlantic.
Songs like The First Night—a bluesy instrumental capturing the ship’s journey and feelings of captivity—and Somewhere Beyond the Horizon, which offers a hopeful outlook on the new land and survival, help listeners connect emotionally to the journey of their ancestors.
The album not only serves as a history lesson but also as a call to remember the enduring hope and strength of African people, whose resilience continues to inspire and shape the future of Black culture.

The album is available as a digital download, CD, and, in early April 2025, a limited-edition 12-inch double vinyl set with bonus tracks and an exclusive NFT.
