Three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning recording artist and Berklee Global Jazz Institute Zildjian Chair in Performance, Terri Lyne Carrington was recently recognized as this year’s Honorary Member at the 42nd Annual Conference of the Society for American Music during a public ceremony at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, MA. “I had a great time being ‘roasted’ by Larry Simpson at the Society for American Music honoree reception and dinner,” says Carrington. “It was a pleasure and an honor to be there with old and new friends, as well as family.” Carrington’s unparalleled contributions to American music conferred a life-long membership into the Society. She joins a distinguished group of luminaries including Pharoah Sanders, Loretta Lynn, Oscar Peterson, Max Roach, Gunther Schuller, John Cage and numerous others.
