Thelma Houston & JANITOR is Set to Release New EP, “fortytwo” | Available NOW

Thelma Houston is a legendary pop, disco, R&B and Motown musical icon with 23 albums to her credit. She is best known for the 1976 hit, “Don’t Leave Me This Way,” which remains a staple on the club scene. Thelma¹s Grammy-honored career spans four decades of American musical history, yet her vocals have never sounded richer than today.

JANITOR, whose musical career began on cello at age four, has performed on more than 100 records as a bassist, cellist and composer. With influences ranging from jazz to hip hop to pop, he has played and toured with artists whose backgrounds and influences span the globe.

Writing and recording music since 2012, Thelma & JANITOR are pleased to release their debut EP, “fortytwo” ­ named for the difference in their ages ­ on September 17, 2013. The five-song EP maps a journey of success and struggle in Thelma¹s words and a genre-defying tapestry of contemporary and vintage sounds in JANITOR’s beats.

Thelma and JANITOR have previously released a cover of Morrissey’s “Suedehead” on a limited run of 500 seven-inch vinyl records. Asked by an interviewer to name a favorite take on one of his songs, Morrissey cited Thelma and JANITOR’s version of “Suedehead,” saying the song, “made my head spin for days.”

Thelma and JANITOR’s collaboration is a journey of discovery built upon respect and friendship. The artists came from vastly different origins, but found common ground in a love for music. With the release of “fortytwo,” we invite you to hear the sound of the generations bridged.
