Motown Gospel Receives Nine GMA Dove Awards Nominations with Tasha Cobbs, Charles Jenkins & Fellowship Chicago and Anita Wilson

(Nashville, TN) – Motown Gospel receives nine GMA Dove Awards nominations for recording artists Tasha Cobbs, Anita Wilson and Charles Jenkins & Fellowship Chicago.  The 44th Annual GMA Dove Awards will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Allen Arena on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN.

Cobbs was nominated in five top award categories for her hit praise and worship anthem, “Break Every Chain” and her Top 5 Billboard album, Grace.  Nominations include New Artist of the Year, Gospel Performance of the Year, Contemporary Gospel/Urban Song of the Year, and Contemporary Gospel/Urban Album of the Year (Grace). “Break Every Chain” was also nominated for Song of the Year for songwriter Will Reagan.

Multiple award-winning and Inspired People Music recording artists Charles Jenkins & Fellowship Chicago were nominated for their #1 hit “Awesome.”  Jenkins & Fellowship Chicago received three nominations for Gospel Performance of the Year, Traditional Gospel Album of the Year and Jenkins receives a nomination as songwriter for Traditional Gospel Song of the Year. Anita Wilson’s critically-acclaimed album, Worship Soul is nominated for Contemporary Gospel/Urban Album of the Year.

Cobbs’ “Break Every Chain” was #1 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart for seven consecutive weeks. The single is now active and steadily climbing the Urban Adult Contemporary radio chart. The lyric video for “Break Every Chain” has over two million VeVo views and counting.  Grace is currently #3 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart and has never fallen below #6 since its February 5 release. Grace is produced by multiple award-winning recording artist VaShawn Mitchell.

Inspired People Music’s Jenkins & Fellowship Chicago’s #1 debut album project, The Best of Both Worlds held the top position on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart for three consecutive weeks.  The Best of Both Worlds was the highest debut for a new artist in 2012 and the tenth best-selling gospel album for an artist in 2012. The single, “Awesome,” entered at #1 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Song chart, and remained at #1 for over 20 weeks.

Wilson’s Worship Soul was named as one of the top ten albums of 2012 by the New York Times. Wilson received a GRAMMY® Award nomination for Worship Soul for Best Gospel Album of the Year.  Wilson was also nominated for three 2013 Stellar Gospel Music Awards in the categories: Contemporary Female of the Year, Praise & Worship CD of the Year (for Worship Soul) and Urban Inspirational Single or Performance of the Year (for “Speechless”).
