We are thrilled to let you know that MFH is now working on behalf of the lovely, soulful and dynamic Shemekia Copeland who, just one year ago, was crowned Queen of The Blues at the 2011 Chicago Blues Festival.  She was presented with the crown that had been worn by the late Koko Taylor during her lengthy reign by Joyce “Cookie “Threatt, Koko’s daughter, along with Marie Dixon, widow of the great Willie “I Am The Blues” Dixon.  The coronation was substantiated by multiple proclamations issued by the Chicago Blues Festival, the Governor of Illinois and the City of Chicago.  We’ll soon be sending you news about Shemekia’s stunning new album, out this fall, but just couldn’t resist sharing the great news that we’re now keeping royal company

Thought you’d enjoy this photo of our Queen and another First Lady taken in February at the White House where she joined B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Mick Jagger, Booker T. Jones, Susan Tedeschi, Jeff Beck, Trombone Shorty, Gary Clark, Jr, Warren Haynes, Keb’ Mo’ and the President of the United States for In Performance at the White House: Red, White and Blues seen on PBS
