Gospel Goes to Hollywood Awards Luncheon Hailed as Resounding Success Celebrating the Untold Stories of Faith During Oscar Week

 
HOLLYWOOD, Calif., March 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ —  Gospel Goes to Hollywood Awards Luncheon (GGTH) hosted by actress Wendy Raquel Robinson and comedian Jonathan Slocumb, who stepped in for Terry Crews, was hailed as a resounding success throughout Hollywood.  The event, to raise awareness and funds in support of the fight against domestic violence, was held Friday, February 24, 2012 at the historical Taglyan Cultural Complex in Hollywood, CA.

Festivities began with a high-powered-red-carpet and pre-reception on the lavishly landscaped courtyard of Taglyan. Guests enjoyed delectable pass trays and mimosa before entering the venue adorned by beautiful floral designs by Tic-Tock Couture Floral.  Hundreds of guests, celebrities, industry legends and some of today’s hottest new talent poured in to witness the untold stories of faith by honorees, actress Loretta Devine, director Bill Duke and producer Curtis King and highly anticipated musical performances by CeCe Winans, Donnie McClurkin and Angella Christie.

Guests feasted on grilled salmon and filet mignon with roasted red, purple and baby Dutch yellow® potatoes, asparagus and carrots as the award ceremony got underway.

Recording artist J. Kingdom featuring members of The Voices of Destiny kicked off the show with an electrifying medley of his hit single “Favor” and his new single “Higher” followed by new recording artist Leon Timbo.

Grammy® award-winning artist CeCe Winans performed a tribute to Whitney Houston and there wasn’t a dry eye in the building, however, spirits were again lifted when multi- award-winning saxophonist, Angella Christie earned a standing ovation with her musical rendition of “Total Praise”. The excitement continued with, Grammy® award-winning artist/pastor Donnie McClurkin who took the audience to the next level with his heartfelt performance of the song “Stand!”

The event concluded when celebrities Loretta Devine, Bill Duke, Cutis King, CeCe Winans, Donnie McClurkin, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Kimberly Elise, Mikki Taylor, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Yvette Nicole Brown, Judge Mathis, Kenny Lattimore, Jimmy Jean Louis, Desiree Coleman Jackson, Tonya Young Williams, Rochelle Aytes, Adrian Anderson, J.C Jones, Kym E. Whitley, Mo & Kita, Wendell James and Sherif Atkins all joined Donnie McClurkin on stage to sing and celebrate untold stories of faith in Hollywood.
