RESTING ON HIS PROMISE

Nashville, TNRESTING ON HIS PROMISE,the new release from James “JJ” Hairston and Youthful Praise, the inspired pen and iconic sound that introduced such gospel hits as“Awesome God” and “Incredible God, Incredible Praise” debuts at #4 on the Current Gospel Billboard Chart.  RESTING… is the highest debut for the choir since the 2002 release of Awesome God.  The choir also made their debut in the Top 200 while also picking up #8 Christian/Gospel Digital Albums, #10 Billboard Top Christian Albums Overall, and #23 Top Independent Current Albums.

With the release of RESTING ON HIS PROMISE(Light Records/Evidence Gospel), YP’s album offers the trademark east coast choir sound and expansive melodies with the contagious energy of driving rock infused tunes and plenty of foot stompin’ rhythm to satisfy the traditional gospel music fan.

Hairston’s ability to craft tunes with timeless melodies and timely lyrics is aptly demonstrated by the title track “Resting On His Promise”. The gentle reminder expresses that we are children of an all sufficient Father who will “put your mind at ease” and draw you into His rest. The words of “Hear Me Lord” epitomize the theme of RESTING ON HIS PROMISE: “Every miracle, in your word is preceded by a sound…  I need a miracle, so I’ll make my own sound right now.” Whether it be the triumphant song of praise proclaimed in “What A Mighty God We Serve”,the intimate worship of “Close to You” or the emphatic testimony shared in “You Can Make It,” Youthful Praise gives unrestrained expression to the heartfelt emotions of the believer.

The project features stand out performances from choir member, David McClure whose runs and riffs take “Powerful God” to a whole new level; the alto timbre of Dion Kipping’s effortless voice on “Lord You’re Mighty”; Myron Butler’s exhortation of “Great Expectation”; and the flawless vocal styling of the incomparable Dorinda Clark Cole. There is even a surprise appearance from the First Lady of Gospel, Shirley Caesar.

Founded in 1992, the 35-member choir was birthed out of their home church, Cathedral of Praise in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where the group remains as one of the church’s choirs.  The choir has gone on to produce five albums; Awesome God (2002), Thank You For The Change (2004), Live: The Praise, The Worship (2005), Exalted…Live In Baltimore (2007), and most recently, RESTING ON HIS PROMISE.

RESTING ON HIS PROMISE,is available now and is sure to exceed the expectations of the most committed fans as they are taken on a musical journey that will stir their hearts to worship and lift their arms in praise.
