Paul Porter’s solo debut, A NEW DAY, is nominated for Traditional Gospel Album

Nashville, TN—After more than 30 years in gospel music, Paul Porter receives his first Dove Award nomination for Traditional Gospel Album for his solo debut, A NEW DAY.  The 40th Dove Awards will take place Thursday April 23, 2009 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN and will broadcast live nationwide via the Gospel Music Channel from 8 – 10 p.m. (ET/PT).

The Dove Award nomination has me extremely excited because it is such a historic milestone in my career,” imparts Porter.

The nominated album, A NEW DAY,
is a collection of Porter’s life journey, which shares his story of
healing, victory, and God’s love.  Released in the Fall 2008, the
project represents Paul’s musical influences by including tracks that
embody his quartet background while also adding some contemporary
tunes.

During his trip to Nashville
for the awards ceremony, Paul will perform during the Urban Soul Café
Dove pre-show Wednesday April 22 beginning at 7:00pm.  That same
evening Porter will also take part in the “Lifetime Achievement
Tribute” to Dottie Peoples by singing “On Time God”, a tune that Porter
and Peoples sung as a duet many years ago.

Over
his 30 year career, Porter has received numerous Stellar Awards, Grammy
nominations, and has been inducted to the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
His nomination is yet another milestone for his ministry as he is
recognized amongst his peers and by the Gospel Music Association.
Porter shares, “I am grateful and will forever cherish this moment. “
