R&B Singer Tony Thompson of ‘Hi-Five’ dies…

R&B hit singer Tony Thompson, lead vocalist from musical teen group, Hi-Five, died from an apparent drug overdose on Friday night.

Thompson enjoyed earlier success as the lead singer & previously as a solo artist. The R&B group’s self-titled debut album went multi-platinum and created classic hits “I Like the Way (The Kissing Game),” “I Can’t Wait Another Minute,” and many other songs such as  “She’s Playing Hard to Get”, “Quality Time.” & movie soundtrack smash “Never Let You Go”.

Back in 1995, Mr. Thompson went solo with “Sexsational” & word had it that he was due to release new material down the road, as he was back in the studio. He brought back Hi-Five to release “The Return” last year.

Tony Thompson was 31.
