CHART-TOPPING MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST EUGE GROOVE DELIVERS
‘FEEL-GOOD’ JAZZ ON STILL EUGE
SPECIAL GUESTS INCLUDE OLETA ADAMS, PETER WHITE &
RAHSAAN PATTERSON
Once upon a time Jazz was not only about sophisticated musicianship and great solos; it was also entertaining and fun dance music that was the popular music of an era. Some say Jazz lost touch with its audience when it turned away from dance rhythms and entertainment. Multi-instrumentalist Euge Groove has won a devoted worldwide following by not allowing his music to be limited by conventional definitions of “serious jazz”; instead he has shown that danceable grooves, R&B melodies and a high quotient of fun are not at all incompatible with adventurous musicianship. So it is only fitting that Still Euge, the 10th album of Euge Groove’s 16 year solo career, takes that proven approach to music-making and delivers another winner—top drawer performances by Euge and a hand-picked crew of great players who make you smile, bob your head and do a little hip-sway. The album, which features special guests Oleta Adams, Peter White and Rahsaan Patterson, will be released on July 22, 2016, the title cut already a hit at Smooth Jazz radio.
STILL EUGE is a triumph over many challenges. During the composing and recording process, Euge logged over 125,000 air miles on tour, endured a brief hospital stay and long recovery from diverticulitis, and took on production and mixing duties for the album. Yet the album flows with that effortless signature “Euge” groove!
“It’s got to feel good,” he insists. “Fortunately I work with amazing players that know how to feel good when they play. When I’m writing the material and dealing with machines, it can be a challenge to find the right part that feels good. But it’s always first and foremost in my mind. It’s got to feel good!”
