October 15, 2025 – Greg Loiacono & Stingray have released their second single, “Come Back Home” via RPF Records/Royal Potato Family. Following up on their debut “Hope We Get To Dance,” released this past summer, the band’s latest offering delivers an infectious take on 1970s-influenced Bay Area soul—a time and place Loiacono and company know well.

“The song has a throwback roller rink energy to it. The lyrics on their own could almost be sentimental, but to stick with that analogy, the pulsating dance groove gives it a skate your sorrows away kind of energy,” says Loiacono. “We’ve been playing the song live and the raucous, singalong chorus has become a peak moment during our performances.”

“Bay Area soul music of the ’70s was a thing of beauty. Funk and Latin rhythms, laced with rock, pop and a dose or three of psychedelia were served up with a free and easy beat, great melodies and often a message of hope,” adds Stingray drummer Michael Urbano. “We stuck to that recipe with a bumpin’ disco beat, funky baseline, swingin’ percussion, velvet keys and choppin’ guitars, all set under Greg’s sweet falsetto.”

“Come Back Home” was recorded at 2200 Studios (formerly The Plant) in Sausalito, CA, a storied studio where landmark albums by Stevie Wonder, Prince, and Fleetwood Mac were made. Producer Damien Lewis (Lizzo, Janelle Monáe, Larkin Poe) helmed the session. Additional releases from those sessions will be rolled out over the coming months.

Greg Loiacono & Stingray is a Northern California-based collective. Loiacono—best known for his work as founding member, guitarist, vocalist and songwriter in the legendary San Francisco rock band The Mother Hips—is joined by drummer Michael Urbano (Lindsey Buckingham, John Hiatt), percussionist /vocalist Vicki Randle (Mavis Staples, George Benson), Kofy Brown (bass/vocals), Danny Eisenberg (keys) and Tom Ayres (guitar). The band closes out 2025 with a headline performance at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA on November 21 with additional shows being planned for next year.
