Award-winning US vocalist Patrice Isley returns with a heartwarming new single, “Your Face Makes Me Smile”, released via Expansion Records. Inspired by a real-life moment of alarm and rescue on her recent visit to the UK for the Luxury Soul Weekender, the song is a celebration of human connection – and the joy sparked by simply seeing a familiar face. The single is released on the 25th July, 2025.
“When I landed at Heathrow, my phone didn’t work – I had no way of finding anyone!” Patrice recalls. “I was a foreigner, lost – until a kind stranger lent me her phone. When I finally saw the face I was looking for, I couldn’t help but smile!”
That emotional spark became the foundation for “Your Face Makes Me Smile”, set to a soulful, groove-laced track from legendary House music producer and keyboardist Gary Hudgins. A long-time collaborator of Patrice’s, Hudgins is known for his work with Crystal Waters, Stevie Wonder, George Clinton, The Temptations, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. He also produced Isley’s earlier release, a stunning cover of George Duke’s “I Want You For Myself.”
The track captures a universal sentiment – that moment of joy when you reconnect with someone who lights you up. “Whether it’s a dear friend, a pet, a partner, or your grandchild – we all know that feeling,” says Isley. “It can reset your whole day in an instant.”
The song builds to a powerful crescendo of “Happy!” – an intentional choice, Isley says, in a time when joy feels like a rare and precious commodity: “This song is a reminder that something as simple as a smile can truly lift your spirit.”
