New Band NW FRQNC Releases New Single “New Frequency” | LISTEN! New Album “Waves of Change” Coming in 2026

NW FRQNC tunes into a “New Frequency”

The jazzy neo soul single about hope and transformation previews the band’s debut album, “Waves of Change.”

LONDON, England (24 JULY 2025): Finding hope amidst the chaos of change, NW FRQNC vocalist Selina Albright sat quietly in a Cento, Italy garden while her bandmates jammed inside the recording studio the five-piece band rented for a week. The international outfit quickly wrote and tracked an energizing neo soul groove bathed in the glow of summer sunshine. However, Albright, who had just endured a turbulent relocation from the US to the UK, struggled to find the lyrics. In that verdant garden, solace enveloped her mind, and she prophetically channeled her desire for peace, promise, and optimism into the lyrics for NW FRQNC’s second single, “New Frequency,” which was released last Friday (July 18).

“New Frequency” offers a bit of the familiar in the form of a retro R&B groove deployed by bassist Roni Jonker and drummer Sietse Huisman that backbones the vibrant jazz-funk horns played and arranged by saxophonist Gianni Vancini. Tico Pierhagen adds keyboards to the lush harmonies with augmentation from Jeff Sopacua’s guitar riffs. The live band sound showcasing live instrumentation provides the perfect launch pad from which Albright’s soulful and skillful voice takes flight on a melody-rich neo-soul sojourn through transformation. Intertwined in the alchemy of the individual band members’ diverse cultures and countries (Italy, Holland, Columbia, and the United States), NW FRQNC has crafted an infectious and imagined amalgam of sounds past, present, and future.

“This is a song written with hope for ongoing transformation, unwavering peace, and the quest for joy in all things. It’s a reminder to look for the path to light in all circumstances. Relocating my family to Europe, which includes two young children, was difficult for all of us, much harder than we ever could have imagined. Little did I know when I wrote the lyrics for ‘New Frequency,’ — the big windows, the yellow flowers, the quiet time, all of it — would describe the home and state of mind I would settle into mere months after the turbulent relocation. The lyrics were prophetically written and crazy accurate. For me, releasing this song is a special act of gratitude to God for protecting and blessing my family through a huge act of faith and resilience,” said Albright who was born in Los Angeles and lived most of her life in Denver.

The week NW FRQNC spent in the Cento studio proved fruitful and prolific as they seeded their forthcoming debut album, “Waves of Change.” The collection slated to drop next year showcases badass R&B grooves, sophisticated contemporary jazz, and shimmering pop sensibilities. Providing the first taste of what’s to come, NW FRQNC issued their first single last fall, “Come Over,” a tantalizing invitation into the band’s mélange of funky soul-powered cuts.

Vancini says that “Waves of Change” “is an awakening through sound. It is a call to action, harmony, and healing.” Releasing “New Frequency” fits that ethos, according to Huisman.

“‘New Frequency’ sends out a positive vibe of hope, joy, and freedom, and therefore it is our modest contribution in worrying times.”
