Dave Koz: The Ides of March recorded this song in 1970, becoming an instant horn section classic. But compared to many of the songs from the great horn bands of that era, (EWF, Chicago, BS&T, TOP), it’s been covered relatively few times….making it ripe for a remake. There’s such power in that opening horn lick….and played by this brand new incarnation of Summer Horns (Marcus Anderson on Tenor Sax, Leo P. on Baritone Sax, Jeff Bradshaw on Trombone & Evan Taylor on Trumpet & yours truly on alto sax), plus the soulful insistent vocals of Marcel Anderson, we feel like we found a way to put our unique spin on this high-octane classic. And it was a TON of fun to record. Buckle up, and enjoy the ride!”
