Sacramento, CA — Reverend John Lee Hooker, Jr. is a 2X Grammy® nominated Blues artist with a Master’s degree in Arts of Ministry and Pastoral Education, a BA degree in Counseling, and an AA degree in Biblical Studies. Rev. Hooker, Jr. is a talented artist who also transformed from prisoner to preacher. He currently serves as Protestant Chaplain at the notorious supermax facility Pelican Bay State Prison, and hospice Chaplain at Blossom Ridge Home Health in Sacramento, CA.
With a vast catalog of award-winning Blues albums, he released his first powerful and transparent Gospel album, TESTIFY, last year. His new single “Hallelujah” is a glorious chant that celebrates Rev. Hooker Jr.’s victorious battle and recovery from drug addiction, crime, and life in prison.
“Hallelujah” is written by Rev. Hooker, Jr, Larry Batiste, and Juan Blair aka UGLYFINGERS. UGLYFINGERS also produced the track with vocal production by Batiste. UGLYFINGERS has made musical contributions to major motion picture films Any Given Sunday, Malibu’s Most Wanted, and My Baby’s Daddy, and artists George Clinton, Latoya London, MC Hammer, Club Nouveau, Dawn Robinson of EnVogue, and more.
